The four teams that were formed and competed in the first season of Sky Ball League – www.skyballleague.com – were the Austin Starz, Los Angeles 405s, Tampa Dragons, and Youngstown Ballers.

Tampa Dragons team members are Riverview, Florida roommates Bryn Renda and Kathryn “KK” Matheny, Kelvin Faison (Tampa), Blake Stein (Oviedo), Ashley Lowe and Melvin Jerome Cobb (both of Brandon).

Brian Dunkleman, one of the original co-hosts of American Idol, hosts the 16 episodes in the Sky Ball League series, which was created by Brian Kessler, who designed the Sky Ball, and sports executive Danny Swartz. “Sky Ball is an energetic combination of basketball, baseball and volleyball, with a little lacrosse thrown in,” says Kessler. “The game uses Sky Balls and smash gloves and is played on a court with goals set at each end that consist of three scoring pads 12 feet to 17 feet high.”

Slightly larger than a softball and constructed of a special combination of plastic and rubber material that is pumped with oxygen and helium, Sky Balls are capable of bouncing up to 75 feet. “Besides the requisite physical dexterity, the challenge to players,” says Swartz, “is that they must not only excel in controlling the ball, but the skillful manipulation of a challenging piece of equipment.”

“Age knows no bounds,” Kessler adds. “Across the league, this season’s players range between 18 and 39, and neither age nor gender has made a bit of difference on how well anyone plays.”

After losing in a very tight race, she was then tapped to host the morning show Fox News Rising. She is married and lives in South Florida.

Kristy Villa, a Miami native, has been a highly respected anchor and reporter in some of the country’s largest television markets including Miami, Houston and Phoenix. She’s covered an array of national stories including the Papal visit to Cuba and Hurricane Wilma. As a former medical representative, Kristy brings a wealth of knowledge about the health issues that concern women. She is married with two children.

In 2006, he entered his first competition in the National Physique Committee (NPC) Southern USA Men’s over-50 heavyweight division and placed second. He went on to take the second place title in the NPC Battle of Biloxi, NPC Steel World Light Heavyweight, and first place in the Steel World Open.

In 2007, the rhythm continued where he won first place in the men’s over-50 category in the NPC Panhandle showdown, following with another first place in the Southern States, Steel World and a close second in the light-heavyweight divisions.

Maseth attended the nationals in Pittsburgh, his hometown, to compete in front of family and friends where he came in sixth place.
