FAIRMONT, W.Va. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Backbone Security is pleased to announce sponsorship of the 2010 EuroForensics Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, March 26-28, 2010. As a Silver Sponsor, Backbone will be offering their two-day Certified Steganography Examiner (CSE) course on March 24-25.

Digital steganography is an Internet era version of an information hiding technique that dates back to the days of Ancient Greece. Criminals can use steganography to conceal evidence of criminal activity. Insiders can use steganography to steal sensitive information. Terrorists can use steganography to establish a covert channel for communications.

It is estimated there are over 1,000 steganography applications available on the Internet as freeware or shareware. These applications are easy to find, download, install, and use with many offering a drag-and-drop or wizard interface to make the process of hiding information so simple that literally anyone can do it.

The CSE course features instruction on the Analytical Approach to Steganalysis. Students will learn about various techniques and methods used to embed hidden information within carrier files by a variety of steganography tools. Students will use advanced steganalysis tools developed in the SARC to conduct a complete steganography examination from initial suspicion that steganography was used to conceal digital evidence to detection and recovery of the hidden information. Students who pass the practical and written examination will receive a Certified Steganography Examiner certification from Backbone Security.

Students will receive a complimentary pass to attend the conference along with a course workbook, reference CD, and a one year license to the Steganography Analyzer Artifact Scanner (StegAlyzerAS) and the Steganography Analyzer Signature Scanner (StegAlyzerSS). Please note: In some cases, an export license may be required to obtain the tools used in the course. To allow ample time to process an export license application, students should register no later than six weeks prior to the course.

Class size is strictly limited to the first 16 students that register to attend the course. To register for the course, please contact Bilal Yilmaz by sending email to: bilal@forensicpeople.com . For additional information about the course please send email to sarc@backbonesecurity.com .
