TALLAHASSEE, Fla. /FLORIDA NEWSWIRE/ — On Wednesday (April 9), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Thomas Hurley and Robert Spottswood Jr. and the reappointment of Charlette Roman to the South Florida Water Management District. First, Thomas Hurley is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Becker Holding Corporation.

Active in his community, he is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and previously served as a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Martin County and the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Hurley earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Duke University and his master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University.
Robert Spottswood Jr.
Spottswood is the President of Spottswood Companies, Inc., Spottswood Management and Keystar Construction. Additionally, he is a Partner at Spottswood & Sterling, PPLC. He currently serves as a member of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council and is a board member of the Nature Conservancy and the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida. Spottswood earned his bachelor’s degree in food and resource economics from the University of Florida and his juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University.
Charlette Roman
Roman is currently retired and previously served as a Battle Command Training Specialist for Northrop-Grumman Tech Services. A veteran of the United States Army, she was previously elected as a City of Marco Island Councilor where she served a term as Vice Chair and served on the Marco Island Taxpayers Association Board of Directors. Roman earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola University, her master’s degree in business management from Webster University, and is a United States Army War College graduate.

Andrew Bain, of Orlando, to serve as Judge on the Orange County Court
Bain is the Head of Government and Business Engagement at Byrd Campbell, P.A. Previously, he served as the State Attorney in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and his juris doctor from Florida A&M University. Bain fills the judicial vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.
