TALLAHASSEE, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ -– Governor Charlie Crist today recognized James F. Murley of Miami as this week’s Point of Light in honor of Climate Change/Energy Efficiency Awareness Month. “Jim has been a tireless advocate for climate change awareness in the Sunshine State,” said Governor Crist. “His breadth of knowledge and dedication to making Florida an example of environmental stewardship has been a great service to the People of this state.”

Governor CristThroughout his 30 year professional career, Jim has been an active volunteer. Having served on advisory boards for the Florida chapter of the Congress of New Urbanism, the Coastal States Stewardship Foundation, the Seaside Institute, Trust for Public Lands, the Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council of the Urban Land Institute, Jim has a strong background in urban planning.

He has been a member of Governor Crist’s Climate Action Team, participating in the Adaptation Technical Working Group. Currently, Jim serves as Vice Chair of the Miami-Dade County Climate Change Advisory Task Force, Chair of the Built Environment Subcommittee of the Broward County Climate Task Force and most notably, chairman of the Florida Energy and Climate Commission. His choice of service reflects his devoted interest and steadfast commitment to the study of global climate change.
