Esperanza Diamond pendant

HOUSTON, Texas, Jan. 18, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Whiteflash announced today that they have been selected to host the historic Esperanza Diamond in Houston, Texas on its cross-country tour of American Gem Society (AGS) member stores. The one-of-a-kind diamond will be on display in the Whiteflash Houston jewelry store in Sugar Land Town Square February 3-7, 2016.

The Esperanza is the most important diamond ever found in the United States. It was unearthed in June of 2015 in Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. Special arrangements were made to have the rough diamond crystal cut and polished locally to preserve its “born and raised in Arkansas” status. Adding to its All American provenance, it was cut by master diamond cutter Mike Botha of Embee Diamonds, an American Gem Society member. It was graded at the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL) and is being hosted on its journey across America exclusively by AGS member stores.

The unique icicle shaped crystal weighed 8.52 carats, the 4th largest crystal ever found in the USA, and yielded a perfectly colorless and internally flawless finished diamond of 4.605 carats graded D IF by AGSL. (GIA report also available). The exotic Triolette shape of the finished diamond features 147 facets, and the diamond is set into a custom designed platinum pendant as unique as the diamond itself. It was designed by Ian Douglas and crafted in the USA by Byard F. Brogan, both of whom are also AGS members.

The Esperanza diamond, which may be worth in excess of $1M dollars, will be sold to the highest bidder in a silent auction style process with bids submitted by interested buyers through one of the AGS member stores hosting the tour. Parties interested in acquiring a rare, world-class, and wearable piece of Americana can contact Whiteflash for more information and receive a bidding form. Bids will be accepted through Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2016.

Whiteflash Vice-president and Graduate Gemologist Bryan Boyne had this to say about the event. “We are honored and thrilled to have been chosen to host the Esperanza in greater Houston – the fourth largest market in America. For Whiteflash to be forever connected with this exceptional gem, and with American diamond history, is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
